Wardrobe essentials – Vivien of Holloway Black Circle Skirt

You don’t have to be a pin up girl or even into vintage style, to have this essential garment in your wardrobe. I think it’s one of those things every woman should own, like a black dress and a pencil skirt etc. This particular skirt from Vivien of Holloway, has the perfect length, which on me falls about mid calf and even though I’m not the tallest person (putting it nicely lol), it looks good even with flat shoes. But is even more stunning when I’m in heels!

The fabric is a medium weight cotton sateen, with a lovely flare and a nice sheen to it, which makes it appropriate for everyday and also for the evening. It is high waisted and has a good size waistband, not too big, not too small. When I went to the store, one of the lovely girls measured my waist and told me I was 26″, which I think means 12 in vintage size (sizes were different back then, so probably an 8 or 10 in todays UK sizing). Here I’m not wearing a crinoline underneath and it still looks nice and full. I tried it with the crinoline and it looks just fabulous and oh so 1950’s!!!

I also got a lovely black belt to cinch the waist even more, which I couldn’t find on the site, but I’m sure you’ll find something similar at the store.

I’m sure I will get a lot of wear out of this skirt and I’ll keep it for a long long time…So, I’m loving it and I’d like to get more in other colors!
